  • plants for the wall

    advice needed, have built 2 quiet long wall s about 10 bricks high to fit plant s in,dont want anything to high hoping to try and grow from seeds,
    any suggestions totally new to growing but gonna give it a go

    Any alpines, house leeks etc, is your best bet here, growing from seed make take you an age though!

      If its a wall thatsd going to get sun, why not use it to grow fruit. You can fan them out against the wall and still get an edible crop
      Peaches, plums or any of the berries like loganberry .
      Wou could also train apples or pears against the wall.
      Just a thought.

        Wallflowers Only joking. I'll second andrews selection and add Herbs and Lavender to to the list as these will have a more intense scent due to being baked. Also try looking at the hardy annuals as thes won't mind the poor soil conditions. Just make sure you have drainage in the wall otherwise you'll just have a long narrow bog garden

          You could try St Peter Port Daisy/Mexican Fleabane - it grows quite well from seed.

            climbing fruits, like passionfruit, kiwi or grapes, then trail them along the wall.
