I want to over-winter Fuscias in a cold greenhouse, do i cut them right down now ?

Are they tender or hardy fuchsias?
Hardy ones can stay outside, but take the tender ones indoors. I wouldn't be cutting bits off them now (bit cold? I pruned mine and took cuttings back in Sept) so wait till spring to prune them.

btw, fuchsia is named after Dr Fuchs. Makes it easier to spell if you know that Leonhart Fuchs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Keep them on the dry side and pick off any dead leaves and flowers. Don't prune till Spring when you're ready to wake them up again. Which varieties have you got and how many?

Yes go with Rusty lady. I used to just pick off the old leaves and keep them on the dry side then come the spring spray with warm water and it will soften the bark and when you can see the buds you can trim the framework back to give a good shape.

If they are standards go to the plumbers merchant and get some foam pipe lagging ( it's usually grey and is split on one side down the length) and fit this to the stem as this is usually the bit that gets killed off bty the frost and you end up with a bush!

take it off in the spring and a couple of time thru the winter to make sure there are no bugs in there.

I also put straw around my plants. but do keep them moist now and again. Last year out of 10 plants i only lost 1, and thats only because a mouse had made a home. I do know someone who wraps her plants in bubble wrap.
Also Its easy to take cuttings off Fuscias.
