  • Moving Honeysuckle

I've stupidly put a honeysuckle in the wrong place, it's been there for three years.
Now have a lovely place to put it, is this a good time to move it? Anyone with any experience of doing the same (not the stupid part!)

Spring is the time for pruning honeysuckle - we chopped ours down to 2ft high, as per the instructions we found online, so maybe it's a good time to move it?

I've moved them successfully before - during the spring tidy-up. I'd prune it like Eyren did and then move it. Make sure it doesn't dry out (ha har, with the summers we've had!) for a season.
      Should be fine.

Thankyou and Flummery - absolutely no chance of it drying out on my allotment!
And, oh god, pruning, hopeless at this, any tips? It's sprouting already if that's any help.

Just cut it to about 18" and cut just about half an inch above a bud.

Brilliant, I was worried about moving mine, but now it'll be ok. Got a much better spot for it picked out.

Was also wondering does it take well from cuttings?
