  • Is morning glory blue bindweed

Wife made me grow some morning glory.

They are about 6 inch high and quite healthy.

Thinking of erecting a runner bean style wigwam and growing them up that.
But when I look at the blue flowers on the packet they look suspiciously like the evil white bindweed !

Will I ever be able to get rid of them.
My instinct (as with most flowers) is to pop them in the bin.

    Advise please ..
    Thanks Jimmy

Sorry it the title of the posting and the "erecting a runner bean style wigwam " and other comments on length. Hopefully someone who knows the answer and does not have a dirt track for a mind will be along to help shortly...

No they are not blue bindweed. They are an annual plant so there is no need to worry.

They don't spread by the roots like bindweed, so they are no problem at all.

They are a lovely annual which will not take over & if you bin them we will need to start a "thread of shame "

However both morning glory & bindweed in convovulus family hence the similarities. Bindweed is just the slightly dodgy family member no one talks about & hopes they don't turn up to weddings/christenings etc.
                .....
                Another happy Nutter...

OK no bin, would composting be acceptable, sort of green manure type thing ?

Revenge ? What possible revenge could she inflict after 45 years of marriage ?

You have still a lot to learn yet then.
Morning glory is quite a nice climbing flower and it comes in several colours, as has been stated they are of the same family as bindweed, same growth rate but no problems with them at the end of the season, so let them grow up your wigwam
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
