Looking for autumn/ winter container displays

Glad you started this thread because I was going to ask what flowers peeps had in their gardens flowering now. I only have hardy fuchsias and feverfew (self seeded). My main problem is that only the bottom 2 feet of garden gets any sun at all from now until May, and that's where I have raspberries and sweet peas, so I need flowers happy in shade.

My Michaelmas daisies gave up the ghost last winter. I'd love to be able to grow chrysanths but they don't last more than a year or two.

So, what's in flower now with everyone else?

Continuing MH's slight tangent, I have:

Fuchsia
Feverfew
Chrysanthemums
Gazanias
Nicotiana
Ceanothus and an early summer Clematis growing through it (both flowering well out of season)
Penstemons
a Gaura that just won't stop
Some hardy Geraniums (bloody cranesbills I think)
In a sunny spot, some Aubretia
Hardy cyclamen.

My garden faces South so I'm lucky to be still catching the sun whenever it deigns to put in an appearance.

For a winter container, I like to include Cyclamen and Primulas. Although not in the same container. They will cope with shade as long as it isn't full shade all day long. I hate those winter flowering pansies, they seem to shiver in the breeze and this makes me feel cold too.

My summer pots are still going strong with geraniums, petunias, begonias (both sorts), pansies and violas. Elsewhere pinks, fuchsia, Japanese anenomes, gazania, gaura (pink), liatris spicata, calendula, sweet williams - can't remember any more, but there are some!!

.........hardy geraniums, honeysuckle, a big yellow shaggy thing, montbretia,..................

Dahlias, rudbeckias are fabulous at this time of year. Dahlias in pots work really well.

There was a thread on here last spring about layered pots as demo'd on Gardeners World. I did a couple and they were great. Planted a tub up with tulips in a bottom layer, daffs at middle depth, iris on top and pansies in the soil. The bulbs came up in sequence, pushing through the pansies and gave months of flowers.

Sorry read this as winter colour.....

Took these photos today of plants that are still flowering in my garden,grown from seed February/March (except the first photo vanilla scented nemesia,I walked past it in a garden centre & couldn't resist it,smells like ice cream!) the purple flowering variety also flowers through the summer & into the winter. The basil is planted with tomatoes,I left it to flower out there. There's one petunia in a tiny pot that's done well all summer (used water crystals in this pot). Pink geranium,sweet pepper,French marigolds & tomatoes in one pot has looked lovely for months,all good to grow from seed.

Alison what size pot did you use and how many bulbs...would like to try this.

Various sizes with the biggest about 14" wide and about 12" deep. Not sure how many bulbs but planted only a few inches apart so they come through thickly. Sorry can't be more help.

I was really impressed they lasted for ages and were really easy. Have bought some bulbs for this year too as planted the others out in the garden after their display last year.

Still have my geraniums, fuschia, dhalias, pansies, sweet pea, lobelia, ageratum, french marigold, begonia and my beautiful rose, "Just Joey".
In spite of the poor summer there is still lots of colour on the garden.
