I want to create a lavender border either side of the pathway that leads to my front door. Its about 20 foot- either side. What would be the cheapest way of doing this and which variety do I go for?. I know nothing about propogation- its a mystery to me!Help!

Hi Petal - was watching Gardeners world last week when they took cuttings from lavender - into gritty cutting compost and then the cold frame. I have one or two gaps in my lavender edging so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. They said use a lavender that has had the flowers all cut off and then started shooting leaves again so that may be easy to find if the garden centre has a mature plant they have tidied up. So cut a piece about 3" long, trim to under the lower leaf node and dibble it in. Good luck!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I took 12 cuttings of each of the 2 types of lavender from the seedlings shown in the Shh thread last weekend.......and they haven't wilted yet

Have a google, there should be plenty of videos about striking cuttings on t'internet.

I've just taken some too and it's the first time I've ever propagated anything so fingers crossed I've cut them correctly
