  • lavender - when to plant seedlings

    Hi

We have successfully grown about 100 lavender (Munstead) plants from seed. They are now in 3 inch pots and are about 1.5" high. We are planning to create a lavender hedge. We have very well drained soil and it hasn't rained properly here for weeks!

Would it be better to plant them out now or wait until the autumn? Any advice welcome. Thanks

We put ours in a couple of weeks ago.

If you are worried; then you could put alternate ones in now, let them start getting established, and then interplant the other half when we are due some rain. We've had some this morning so perhaps it isn't that far off now.

Make sure they get a really good soaking when you put them in.

Thanks, that is a good idea

We were very pleased with the germination rate and don't want to blow it now!
