  • Identification ?

Can anyone help with identification ? I planted a load of echinacea seed and I think it is one of these, but I have searched the web without success.

I'm no expert at echinacea (I've never managed to get it going in my garden) but from the images I've dribbled over in teh seed mags every year - it looks like one to me

But I'm sure some more knowledgable grapes will be along in a minute

The closest I could find in the 2 minutes between now and bedtime.

Those green things look more like leaves than petals. Echinacea tend to mutate quite often. Could well be a mutation. How many flowers were like that? were there any flowers on the same plant that looked more "normal"?

Looking at the small photo I thought "oh that's pretty - a green petalled echinacea". Then I enlarged the image and the green bits definitely look like leaves. Also, the dark centre looks like seeds (sunflower perhaps?).

Thank you Andrea - I have tried Green Jewel, but was disappointed with the colour. I found it to be more yellow than green. As for Rusty Lady's suggestion, it is certainly an Echinacea, but I still haven't found the variety.
It has a number of flowers out at the moment and I intend to split it in the spring as it certainly looks quite striking.
