Does anyone have any advice on rooting hydrangea's? I have a nice plant out the back and would like a few more. I remember someone telling me that now was the time to do it??

Actually spring/early summer is the best time for taking hyrdangea cuttings. Howver you can take hardwood cuttings in winter. This is done anytime after leaf fall and before new growth starts. Cut pieces of about 6 to 9 inches long from the ends of branches. Make a slit trenth by putting in a spade and moving back to forward. Trickle a bit of sand in the bottom, put the cuttings, upright, to half their length in the trench and firm them in. They should root easily like this by late spring.

If you've got a cold frame you could put them into a good gritty open compost & leave them in there as well.

Thanks guys for the advice. I'm pretty sure my previous source of info was talking about long stem cuttings (hardwood I suppose) so this is exactly what I was looking for.
