    Hemp?

    I have a really invasive plant, which has now crept into the lawn. it has long flat sided stems which have runners like strawberry plant and each tiny plant grows roots.

    leaves are just like cannabis! I have found a picture which matches the leaves exactly, but the hemp plants seem to be tall, whereas this is fairly flat on the ground. No flowers.

    i will try and take a picture later on and post it if I can.

    Is there a variety of hemp which might be used as ground cover?

    Does any one know how I can get rid of it, it is taking over!

    Can't imagine it'd be hemp, unless you've got someone farming it nearby - you need a licence to grow hemp.
    Sounds like it's behaving like creeping buttercup. A piccie would help a lot

      I recognise this description and unfortunately I have way TOO MUCH of it. Deffo not hemp! But those with birdseed mixes might find the odd plant growing as it is one of the seeds included. Industrial as opposed to 'therapeutic'!

      When dug up you'll find a large carrot-like root on the established plants. They're a devil to keep down.

      Anyone with a 'final solution' for this horrid weed would have my grateful thanks!

        It does sound like creeping buttercup - we have a plague of it too. It was one of Himself's big wildflower favourites and he introduced a bit. Sadly we can't extroduce it!

          I renamed mine Cr*pping Slutterbutt, since verbal abuse always makes me feel better.

            I've attempted to attach a photo....

            I have 2 more, which are more detailed, but can't upload them. HamsterKing is trying to do clever stuff to them even as we speak!!

                It is ground elder, introduced by the Romans as a cure for gout. Extremely difficult to eliminate. Dig it up and do not dispose in the compost hip.

                  No it's not ground elder.

                  It's more like creeping cinquefoil, I've got it too. Have a google.

                    I agree with the creeping cinquefoil, having seen the pictures and TwoSheds links. Didn't know what it was called, but I have it on the lottie.

                          ihave never noticed flowers on it but today we found 4 of them.....
