  • HELP needed for my sick pieris?

    Hi there,

I have a Pieris who's new red leaves suddenly started to turn black and die off this week.
It was looking brilliant 3 days ago, although it did not have many flowers since it was transplanted from a friends garden late last year last year. Others in the gardens in my street do not seem to have this problem!

Any help and advice will be appreciated,

I think it could bave been exposed to a frost. That is the usual culprit in this area. It will recover, but I think you've lost some of the new growth for this year.

It does sound like a frost attack, sadly many plants copped it from the winter just gone

        Thanks for that,
We did have a frost, now that you mention it, but it seems that some of the red foliage survived,so I live in hope. The plant came form Warrington to Scotland, so is probably not acclimatised yet! also our garden gets a lot of wind as it is an end terrace and very exposed.
Looks like it will survive though, I was worried that it might be disease!

        Regards all and happy growing,
