Default Gloxinia?

I bought 2 Gloxinia plants at a garden fair thing at the weekend and carefully planted them in my garden last night...

Then I Googled them!! I know it's the wrong way around

But am I right in thinking that these are actually houseplants The man said they were of the primula family so I assumed they'd be okay in the garden...

This is what they look like....at the moment anyway

I think I have seen those sold as houseplants. Might be an idea to put them in pots and take indoors for a while until the flower experts pop online later.

Yes definitely houseplants.

What is usually described as hardy gloxinias is incarvillea delavayi.

In the Autumn you can dig up the tubers, and start them off in Spring next year, so all is not lost.

I should be a bit dubious of buying from that man again. They are not members of the primula family.
