Default Elephant ears

Hi,
I have seen these bulbs in a garden centre, and wanted to grow some in my garden. The fancy name is colocasia. I have seen them growing in the US and love them because they get so big.
But I wanted to know if anyone has any experience of growing them here in the UK, and how did they get on?

Thank you for any help you can give me.

I've got some - here when we moved. I hate them quite profoundly - they look like a pink flowered cabbage. I shifted them out of the garden to a spot just over the wall - on the corporation's verge. Other people cultivate their bit of verge - mine is the place I put the stuff I can't like but don't want to kill. It has red-hot pokers there too! They grow well - too well! Send me a pm with your address and I'll send you a bit (you could have the lot but the postage would be stupid!)
