They look like the fruits from a mulberry, but the leaves look a little different.

    But I am no expert.

    Pretty tho.

I'd go with Munch's reply, a Mulberry. The leaves are right for a mulberry.

The fruits are huge screwbylil, and they are very tasty, they make wonderful jam, but the leaves were the more important part of the plant. They were introduced to try to have a 'home grown' silk industry. The mulberry leaves are the only leaves that silk worms eat, but it has to be the right variety of mulberry.

Just seen this - and I don't think it is a Mulberry. Were the fruits on a tree, or on more of a bush? If it's the bush (and the fruits are about 4-6" long) then its probably American Pokeweed, Phytolacca americana.
