    Hi eggheads LOL

One of my Customers (looooooovely garden) has two clumps of this growing on the shady side of her garden, through gravel. Both clumps are around 4' tall, and the leaves are a good hand-span across. I have small hands, the leaves are bigger! The leaves and flower stalks all grow from the ground, ie there is no single stem.

The flowers look like a bit like a Rudbeckia, they are a golden orange colour, and self-seed prolifically. The stalks and the backs of the leaves are a purple-red colour (like a good Port!) and the face of the leaves is a dark green, with almost a metallic sheen.

I would guess at some sort of Bog/marsh plant, and I'm assuming it's deciduous, but didn't ask. (D'oh ) If you pull at one of the leaf stems to break it off, it comes off reluctantly but leaves strings behind, like Comfrey does.

Anyway, I'm waffling, I know. I pulled out all the seedlings (as requested) and have potted some up, so if anyone wants some let me know!

    Cheers all!

Is it ligularia? If so, I have one too that's just come into flower. Mine has dark purple leaves (forget the variety) which the slugs and snails have gorged on. Tastier than hostas, apparently.

Ligularia Dentata 'Desdemona' Thank you - I knew I could rely on 'the Vine' I spent ages this morning looking through my books, but couldn't seem to find it Google came up with plenty of pics as confirmation too.

I don't suppose it's hard to come by, a large Nursery in Chelmsford sells it in 3L pots for £7.00. As I said earlier, I've potted some seedlings up, so give me a shout and I'll pop some in the post.

        Thanks again!
