  • Dividing Sweeet Pea Seedlings

    Hi
My daughter has bought me 4 pots of sweet pea seedlings from the garden centre. Each pot contains between 40 and 50 seedlings. I saw somewhere that I can divide these up.
My question is how many seedlings should I split them into and should I do it now, wait a bit until they are bigger or do it when planting?

Split them up now, as they get more established their roots will become intertwined and it will become more of a difficult job to seperate them.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Thankyou bramble. How many do you think would be reasonable for each pot?

I have about four or five in small pots ready to go in the ground later when frost have passed. I put them on my allotment last year and they were fantastic. I have loads of seeds to sow still.

I'd try and get them into 4's, but don't worry if they come apart cleanly into 5's or 3's etc

Thanks guys! Potted them on yesterday and got 60 pots now!!! I don't mind too much thought as I love sweet peas, I'm sure I'll find the space.
