  • Daring dahlias

Is anyone on here in love with dahlias like me? They are such
cracking cut flowers and really punctuate perennial borders with
gorgeous colour and height. The earwigs drive me potty but
    I persevere by various means.
My favourites at the moment are Northwest Cosmos, Akita and Dark Desire.

I do find it hard to find growers who sell mail order tubers early in the year
as apart from rooted cuttings. Tubers are much better value. Anyone here
know any good mail order dahlia specialists??

    Cheers

Don't know of any good suppliers, but I love them too! Anything that's bright - oranges and purples are my faves at the moment and eye watering cerises amongst them! They're not for the faint hearted!

Hi you could try Van Meuwen, I've used these in the past, not for tubers but bulbs, quality was always good.

I grow them every year and always try to add to them.
I have bought special offers when I see them being sold off at the end of season.
I also sow a few packs of bedding ones each year.

And your hands begin to harden.

I love them, they're spectacular. I actually won one of the categories on the Virtual Show a couple of years ago with three blooms of an orange spiky petalled one that I don't know the name of (it must have come as a job lot). The plant is still going strong. I also like Arabian Night(s), and Mystery Day.

Good to hear dahlias are appreciated. They come in such a great range of colours
and flowers of all shapes and sizes. I love them for cut flowers. I am inspired
              by Sarah Raven.
Thanks for the info on dahlia websites.
