  • The Cuttings Bed

I've just started a Cuttings bed! Sounds grand but its really just an odd bit of ground that I'm bunging all the broken bits of plants and prunings into - and hoping that something will take. They're the bits that look too good to throw away (compost).
It only has Pineapple Sage and a lovely dark blue salvia in it so far but there'll be more.
Usually, these oddments are stuck in a bucket of water and left to root or rot! Shoving them in the ground makes it seem more "professional" somehow!

What do you do with your broken bits? Can you bear to part with them or do you have to give them a chance of life?

I have just cut back a red oak and as I am thinking of removing it as its getting to big for the space it's in, I was thinking about shoving some of the cuttings in to see if I could get them to root to give me a replacement, then I thought naw compost them, they are now shredded (by the lawnmower ) and in the compost bin
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

Not something I do much of, but might just start next year.
