  • corn flowers with no heads?

I sowed some cornflowers and when they were seedlings put them in the shaded side of my garden as there is nothing in there at all and I wanted something colourful in there. They have shot up but have no heads, they have been like this for about 2-3 weeks now. Any ideas?

Bit early for them to flower yet. Also they will flower better in the sun. They are plants of the field not woodland so like the sun.

Cornflowers bloom from about mid-June to August, and Wendy is right, they are field flowers and like open sunshine. In the shade they will probably grow tall and thin, reaching for the light.

Mine are about to open, any day now: in full sun

for shady spots, you need to choose suitable (shade-loving) plants.
