A friend has given me a small cutting of a chocolate vine but I'm in two minds whether or not to actually plant it in the garden. My friend said it grows quickly but is easy to prune and keep under control, but I've had a look around online and have seen quite a few articles saying it's really invasive and advising against having it unless it's in a huge garden. My garden is quite small but I do need something to grow up the trellis on the back wall and it'd be nice to have something that didn't take years to get big enough to cover it.
Can anyone offer any advice or tell me about their own experience with chocolate vine? Is it worth me planting it or will it take over the whole garden and be a nightmare to get rid of??

How about sticking it in a container? If it grows too rampant you can easily get rid or chop in right back.

It is a bit invasive...not like virginia creeper but if you have a tiny garden I'd go for a clematis instead!
