  • Bridal Wreath

I have this shrub in a container and this year it is a sight to behold. I have tried saving seed in the past and I have heard of layering. Any suggestions for propagation would be appreciated.

Depends on the shrub as to the best way to propagate.

    What is it?

That looks promising Nicos. It may not be the right time to do it but I'm sure it can spare me a couple of cuttings now. I will also take some hardwood in the autumn 'tis pretty in it?

Whoops! I tried to post but got a message that the post was too short. Don't look short to me does it you?

Don't think it's Spirea Bren. Looks more like philadelphus (mock orange blossom) which is commonly used in bridal bouquets - it smells gorgeous. Whatever it is the best way to propogate is from cuttings.

When I bought it many years ago I remember it was called Bridal something. The flowers are only about 1" across and the shape pendulous. I will take some soft and hardwood cuttings and report back.

Mine has buds on, and Bren is much further south than either of us, so yes it possibly is flowering now in Dorset.

Hiya Bren. What you've got is an Exochorda. Grows into a loose open shrub. Flowers purest of spring white and flowers for about 7 weeks if the winds don't catch it. Have never heard of propagating from cuttings, Maybe layering. Think it's usually grafted as it is a rather week plant. But thye benefits are it'll never get to huge. Dincur
