  • Banana peel and roses

I've read somewhere that putting banana skin in the planting hole of a rose helps the rose
Anyone tried this and is it worth doing?

It could help with potassium? Have you read about underplanting roses to help protect them from blackspot? There's a link here about it~

Well, the banana would have to rot down before it gave out any nutrients - potassium would be a good bet as they are high in this.

Is your soil potassium deficient? If not then too much potassium can inhibit uptake of other nutrients such as calcium (needed for healthy wood production).

IMHO You'd probably be better off putting the nanas in the compost bin and making a nice balanced compost to dress the roses with later on in the year.
