Default Advice Needed

Hello Folks,

I need some advice on perennial plants as my knowledge is limited. I need about 6 plants to fill my front borders and wondered if anyone can reccomend some cheap plants that don't need much water?

Regards
Danny

Lavender would be your best bet although you dont say if the situation is sunny and they prefer the sun. How did you get to 6? Can you give any more info? - Although I am now in Finedon - I do have a little knowledge of gardening as I am from Enfield which isnt too far away from Tottenham at all.

Hello Finedon.Dandy,

I have rosemary and lavender plants in pots on my patio. Was thinking about taking cuttings from these, what do you reckon?

That would be very green of you. You wouldnt have such dramatic impact as you would get with 6 mature plants but you could plant as many as possible and use the bad like a nursery bed than as the plants mature dig up some to give the others space and make gifts of the spare to friends and family - maybe even swap for something different. Thats what I am trying to get to just need time to take cuttings!

I am growing Marigolds, Cornflowers, Hollyhocks and Limnanthes (poached eggs). I don't water any of them. They're blooming marvellous

What about pinks? lovely cushions of grey/green leaves and heavenly scent.
And for the Spring, primroses and pulmonaria and hellebores, I appreciate their flowers more than anything else, after starved of growth and colour all winter it's wonderful to have these beautiful flowers in early spring.
