  • Yellow damson fruit

    Hi,
I have just discovered my next door neighbours fruit tree has now got fruit on. They are new neighbours and so don't know what sort it is as its the first time it has fruited.
So I have been down and picked one. I think it is a yellow damson tree as the fruit are bigger than cherries and have a stone in them.
I have never had anything with damsons before. The fruit is really hard still.
So I was wondering will the fruit soften up like a plum?
Is it going to be a case of keep checking the fruit or is there a rough time for them to be ripe with them been the yellow type?

Do they need to be soft to cook with? These ones are as hard as rocks.
