  • Yellow Autumn Raspberry Query

The plot to one side of my lottie has some autumn fruiting raspberries which are planted up to the fence between us. Some of the suckers have come up into my plot and I've left them to fruit. Anyway, the fruit is now ripe and is absolutely delicious, really sweet and tasty. My neighbour has no idea of the variety, wondered if anybody had any ideas what they could be. I've never had autumn ones at the plot as I have a few Autumn Bliss canes at home which predate my lottie but am thinking of transplanting the new canes somewhere more appropriate but was just curious as to what they might be. Already have no idea what variety any of the other raspberries are on my plot as I didn't plant those so it's not urgent but I am curious.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

All Gold and Autumn Gold are the most common I think.

Never tried All Gold but these ones taste much nicer than the Autumn Gold I've eaten before, hmmm, probably never know but I am curious.

I have All Gold and Autumn Gold (I think). Actually, like you say, they don't have a great flavour! Don't know then. Maybe it's just a flavourfull year!

I have All Gold, and they taste fine (couldn't tell them apart from others if you had your eyes closed).

But I have found that after the novelty wears off people head for the red ones in preference to the yellow ... I have similar issues with wrongly-coloured Carrots and the like. The only success I have had is with Yellow courgettes that we grew this summer as they are universally preferred to the green ones ... but I have no note what variety they are (they came out of a seed-swap parcel ...)

I have Allgold currently growing in almost 100% shade. The taste is a little variable, but they do seem to have some advantages over Autumn Bliss, which I have also tried. The Autumn Bliss were hard to remove from the cores, tended to have maggots in, and were soon eaten by the birds. Allgold come off the cores quite easily, don't seem to get maggots (raspberry beetle) and the birds seem to ignore them.

I also like the yellow courgettes - my variety were F1 Goldmine, which have white stripes down the length and are supposed to be self fertile.
