How old are the trees, and where are they planted (pots or open ground)?

Nowadays I just plant them and let them get on with it. I can't be bothered to spend lots of time feeding, watering, weeding, spraying.
I have a general rule that if a newly-planted tree grows at least several inches in its first season without any help and grows well without any help by the end of its second season it's a good'un. If it doesn't put on good growth within 2-3 years it's not worth keeping.

I've never done this with fruit trees, some people might. My plum & apple trees are 4 or 5 yrs old,if it hasn't rained for a couple of weeks (once a week in the summer) I give them a watering can full of water each - 9 litres,so it goes deep,it's not worth giving just a little, because it would only reach the top root growth. So some people use bottles so they know the waters gone deep.

You need to water if they're in pots but they're usually fine in the ground as soon as they're established.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I don't bother watering fruit trees but I do try & give them a mulch of Manure with Wood Ash mixed in.
