| Strawberries are better outside although you do need to protect from birds!

| Don't you just! My first strawb on saturday was looking nice and juicy in the morning, I went to pick it in the evening and it had been pecked. One white wafty feather was hanging on a nearby stick so the culprit left its mark. I have since popped some fleece on and I move it round to the next ripening strawb - have managed to harvest 6 now and they are delicious.

| My strawberries are covered with aphids, so yes, they can be a problem. Strawberries will prefer to be outside rather than inside. It gets very hot in a greenhouse in mid-summer. |

| Remember that if you are growing strawberries under cover, greenhouse, cloche or even very fine netting for the earliest fruit, that the flowers require pollination. If you prevent the bees doing it, then you will have to do it by hand and that is never as good. See this web page for details of Strawberry growing strawberry |

| Kimbo, strawberries are perfectly hardy outside and much the better for it. But you do have to protect them from birds or they will have the lot. Be careful about what kind of nets you use. Birds can get tangled up in those cheap plastic things. You need a good net drawn tight. Enjoy your srawberries.
