  • Strange "cocoons" on red currents

Sorry no pix, they look like lots of little red things in a sticky silken cocoon with a sort of shiny brown "lid"
Any Ideas? I've removed them all and they're pretty digusting, can't work out what creature/creatures it is.

Try looking up scale insects. Is this them?

Sounds like it to me too. I found them on my black currants, yuck

They are quite revolting, prehistoric looking creatures. Agreed - yuck!

Wow, Thank you all so much, That's exactly what they are! I googled scale insects and got some things that look like extras from a Sci Fi film. I'm going to have to keep an eye open and check all my other stuff....
Thanks again, never seen these before....
