  • Space in my fruit bed

I am going to reorganise my rather ramshackle fruit bed when I get home. I currently have (and I know I'm very lucky) apples, pears, quince, grapes, plums, peach, kiwi and nectarines as either trees or vines.
My soft fruits are currants (various) strawbs, rasps and goosegogs.
All my currants are coming out and this will leave a fair size space for more soft fruits.
Best suggestion for an area of about 8m2 for fruit would be happily accepted. Needs to be something that doesnt need to much looking after as I work away 4 weeks then home 4 weeks.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions

A netted area for blueberries would be great.
You could alter the whole soil for that area too.
Several varieties flowering at slightly different times to extend the fruiting time.

(I had thought of gooseberry but if you get an attack of sawfly, you'd come home to a pile of twigs sticking out of the soil!!!!!)

Someone did take a picture of me after all. This is him trying to wrestle the visitors pass from me, after I insisted he had to sign for it!!
I am taking my berries out Nicos as I dont really eat them. I may just whack in loads more strawbs. Would love to try something exotic but cant think what.

Not sure if they'd overshadow the stuff nearby too much but you sound short of a mulberry and/or a medlar to me. I can send you some medlar seeds but I guess it'd be a while before you saw any fruit.

Ok seahorse I am now going to google a Medlar. If its fruit I will eat it, and if takes a while to bear them, I shall tap my fingers next to it impatiently, to hurry it along.
Burnie, I already have 2 vines growing on the back wall of the house.

Would love some seeds anyway if they are going spare
