We have just picked our first helping of Rhubarb it was delicious, but when we went back to pick some more it has grown a large stem around 5ins around and with a large cone shaped sphere on the top .If it was the end on the season I would think it had gone to seed.Has anyone else had enything like this and can we still eat it

Yep - sure sign that a flower is on the way - snap off as low down as possible so the plant can carry on putting its energy into being productive.
