  • Red Leaf Crimson Bonfire Peach Tree

    Hi again all.
We bought the above tree from a well known shopping channel. Now it states it is meant to have red leaves but ours has got green leaves on it.Will the leaves change colour or have we got a duff one
Mother in law has got the same tree aswell and that also has green leaves

I had never heard of this variety but have found this by googling:

Peach Red-leaved "Crimson Bonfire" tree - Fruit Trees - Fruit

it seems to suggest that the leaves should already be dark red right from the start but perhaps someone else will come along who is already growing the tree.
Hope yours is ok. If not get on to the company for a refund or the correct tree.

Did you look at the link Stormforce? Having read that I think you have a tree that is not what it is supposed to be.

yea thanks Rusty.we did notice those on the picture with the pink blossom on it there are green leaves so whether the leaves change colour when the tree has established more and the fruit is starting to come out.

The green bits on the blossoms are the bit behind the flower, not leaves. From the description of Crimson Bonfire it says Once the burgundy leaves emerge they look great all season long and their colour perfectly sets off the gorgeous fruit. In autumn, you will even get a bonus as the foliage turns bright yellow in a final burst of autumnal colour. I still think what you've got is not Crimson Bonfire.

I agree with Rustylady - the leaves should always be burgundy colour right from the start according to the link. I would check with your supplier and get a replacement or refund.
