  • Purple pepino

I read back retweeted post by James Wong this morning about a fruit called purple pepino (solanum muricatum). It's a native to south America and produces a soft sweet fruit about the size of a pear with a taste that resembles a cross between a melon and a pear. From reading the comments it requires a long growing season (approx 9 months) under glass but will take a bit of frost. I found a supplier on the web and think in will buy some seeds in New year for early spring sowing.

Anyone heard of or tried to grow this ?
