I've been looking this up because I've got a redcurrent which is only two years old but has fruited nicely this year. I'm actually waiting til later in the year because I want to take some cuttings...so I wont cut back til the autumn but when I do I shall be quite careful and not take it right back....probably do what i do with blackcurrants which is clear the middle. If your one is a older i believe the right thing to do is cut all the old stuff right back.
But thats just me ....a fruit expert may be along soon...............
oops while i was writing this a fruit expert did come along!!!!
