    Hello everyone,
This is my first post and unsure whether it is the correct section. My apologies if I am wrong.
Over the past few years my pear tree produces large pears but they have brown to black spots over the skin going into the fruit. Some of them look misshapen. They are of course inedible and not a pretty site. The leaves look okay. I was going to cut the tree down but thought that I would give it a last reprieve. There are another two pear trees which are unaffected. Is this a fungal disease and can I cure it?
    Thank you

Hi and welcome to the vine

Have a read up of 'pear scab' https://www.keepers-nursery.co.uk/apple-pear-scab.htm

Its possible what you describe is a fungus - its also possible that the general health of the tree can be affected by feeding and so make the instances of this problem with the fruit less. May be try a spray with liquid seaweed feed next year ? The weather of course also makes a difference.
