My melon growing endeavours haven't gone strictly to plan this year. Only five seeds (of ten, and blooming pricey those ten were too) germinated, of which three are still alive now. Those three are still teeny tiny, have gone white in places and have flatly refused to climb.

However all is not lost! I noticed today that they have a few flowers on them. Four, in fact. I nearly missed them- the flowers are tiny lol, I don't know why I expected them to be bigger but I did, I was expecting more like courgette flowers! Bt anyway, I was so excited and not about to leave anything to chance so I dabbed at them all with a paintbrush earlier. Hopefully it will grow me some nice melons

I can't remember the variety, but it is an outdoor, 'one person size' melon.

The only melons I ever got success with were Ogen - grown in the south east under a big cloche - they were very sweet but pollination was a problem because the cloche kept the bees out!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I've got 2 'Outdoor Wonder' melon plants in my greenhouse. They seem really healthy and have started to open tiny little flowers. There have been loads of hoverflies and bees in the gh this week so I have high hopes for the pollination situation.
