  • Olive tree cuttings

Hi all, getting excited about the coming season!

I have a local friend who wants their large olive tree seriously pruning so I'm looking for advice on what to do with the cuttings.

Don't know what variety it is but they planted it 6 yr ago and its over 8' now!
They got plenty of fruit off it last yr but they don't like olives!

Have done some brief research on net and this seems to be a good time to prune as new growth is yet to grow, but june/july is better for the cuttings!

Just wondered if any grapes have tried this in the past or wish to comment on the moral case for convincing my neighbour to wait till late spring to trim!

    cheers

I can't help you, but I am wishing the best of luck. I have very bad luck with olive trees and have managed to kill two so far. ( however they were very tiny)

Seems a bit tricky so I'm thinking lots of cuttings with mist and bottom heat!

Why not ask him if you can leave a couple of branches for to use as cuttings later in the year? If they don't eat the olives it shouldn't make any difference!
