  • Mucky question!!!

Good evening folks & relax I'm not going to ask a rude question.
But I was sitting and thinking what would be best to use as a fertilizer
Organic farm yard manure or horse manure?

It would be used when planting apple trees. Talking of animal muck I seam to have a problem with a cat using my garden as a toilet any tips to stop him making a mess in my garden?

    Many thanks ng.

Given the choice I would use well rotted farmyard muck. It is what is known as a cold manure and I think that it lasts longer in the soil than horse which is hot.

As for the cat. A water pistol?

Yep I guess a squirt with a water pistol isn't so harsh I would have to catch him in the act tho

I would go for well rotted farm manure every time but as cattle are being kept in units where the manure is being scraped out with a tractor and no straw is used it becomes harder to get.
As for the cat, buy a dog?

For the cat I'd put spiky twigs in the places you don't want it to go. Doesn't always look brilliant, but it works.

FYM is a bit broad, you really need to know what animal/s it comes from, if you can source it go for cow poo every time as it's digestive system is the best for doigesting seeds.

Regarding cats, there have been many threads on the subject, invariably the best humane solution has been motion activated water spray
