june drop
well, it has finally started on the apples, the june drop, in the first week of august, six weeks late, after that cold spring, the bramley tree has dropped enough to make about 3/4 pies, i'm not going to waste them. it was helped this weekend by gales more suited to feb/march, complete boughs snapped off a pear tree and so strong it whipped some trees boughs against the roof, and they must have bent 45deg to do it, I had to get 3 slates put back in place this morning and chop half a tree (20ft) down to protect the house, don't you just love the british summer , I can think of a better name for it but wouldn't want to upset the more delicate folk....
