  • Grape vine newbie

Hi I was bought 2 grapevines for my birthday.I have planted them but I'm now stuck. I've spent hours looking over the internet for which type of trellis to use and am baffled there so much info and I don't know what's the best way for me to go.
The varieties I have are grape flame and lakemont.
When I got them they were just sticks with roots and wax on top(sorry to sound so untechnical). A few shoots have now appeared and I again have looked over the internet to see if I should let all shoots grow etc but again confused. Please help. I have included photos of each as they are now.
    Thanks.

I don't know anything about growing grapes but wanted to welcome you to the vine anyway. As an alternative to trellis, you could just use horizontal wires attached either to the wall or wooden battens.

Hello, and welcome to the Madhouse.

If you play around with the search facility on here, you'll find loads of info. Best make yourself a cuppa first though, because you'll be a while. Have fun!

            Thanks for the welcomes.
I have 5 shoots coming out one at the mo and they are only shoots. Should I leave these to grow or do I need to take any off.

Ok done a bit of research and have decided with the space I have I will grow along a wire support. Can I grow along one wire or do I need several. And could you advise what this method is called so I can look into it further. Thank you

Ok I've spent hours on the internet and think I know what am doing with the whe pruning training now(sort of). BUT my vine came it looked like a dead stick now on the stick are about 5 separate shoots coming out. Do I leave all these to grow for now or do I need to pinch out some all or any. Thanks in advance.Ive added pics if it helps.

I'd let them grow & train them along horizontal wires at different heights.
