Family plum tree?

    Family plum tree?

    Are there any reasons why you can't have a family plum tree. Home grafted or purchased ?
    There are plenty of Apple and Pear family trees but no plum that I can find ?

    The problem with all family trees of all fruits is that all varieties have different growth rates, some like more of one nutrient than another etc so it usually causes problems in some way, usually by one bit of tree being so vigorous that it steals all the nutrients and ends up 15 foot tall while the other bits havent grown much

    I have seen red/yellow plums on trees somewhere, one of the big mail order companies like t+m and bakker etc

        Deacons have been producing Family Trees for decades. They have a quad plum for sale, Marjorie’s Seedling/Oullin’s Golden Gage/Denniston’s Superb/Victoria.

          Yes, I missed it the 1st time through their site, so it is possible and feasible.
          I am wondering why they do not seem to be as popular as Apples & Pears. (in fact, they are few and far between) With New properties having ever smaller gardens.

            Regardless of family trees or not, There is a vast choice of apples and so make an obvious choice. Where I live it seems most people have at least one apple tree. In the village I only know of one other plum tree and no pears.
