  • everbear strawberry trim

I always cut my summer strawberries back after fruiting to get them ready for their winter kip! Should I trim the everbear / perpetual type back once they have finished fruiting? I am worried that there won't be enough time for the plants to recover and grow new leaves etc before the cold nasty winter is here.

    Cheers

I don't know the answer to this Steve but my guess is they will be ok...Though before you do anything rash best wait until a grape with a little more knowledge pops along.

I've no idea - I just cut off leaves as they die and let the rest grow. In my simple mind, a green leaf is there for a reason, so why cut it off before its done its job?

Thanks for the info. I have had my annual brain wave and decided to cut back 1/2 the plants (10 x Buddy Strawberries) that way I'll still get some crop next year if things go pearshaped (keeping the theme fruity)

        Once again thanks
