  • early?

i had a look out in the rear greenhouse today, and found that the apricots are coming into bloom, in mid February?, I have never known them to blossom this early, so it probably means I will lose them to a frost in March, but I will start to pollinate them tomorrow and each day for the next week or two, with my little kiddies paintbrush, stroked across each flower and hope for the best, they seem about 6-7 weeks ahead of the peaches and nectarines so I should get some to ripen, all that's needed now is a summer with some sun, and that seems the hard bit these days, after the last 3 were complete washouts, global warming?, more like the bl***y dark ages...

Yours are way ahead of mine, Buffs. Buds forming but a long way to go before opening.

One of my pears has a a few very swollen green buds on it. The rest are still looking very dormant, as are the apples, medlar, cherries and plum.

I thought I would photo the blooms, just to show how advanced they are, started with the brush this morning, the pear trees look to be 1-2 weeks off blooming as well, I will have to get a brush on the end of a long cane I think..
