    Dwarf Apple tree help.

    I want to grow a few - maybe 4-6 dwarf apple trees in large pots, Ill put maybe 1 or 3 on the patio and a few dotted around near my greenhouse.

    The reason for pots in we plan to move in a few of years and I want to take them with me.

    Ive looked into it and im not sure whether to get M27 dwarf trees or minarettes on M26? which would be better?

    Also which varieties should I look out for that are good 'dwarf' varieties and diesease resistant

    I would like different tasting ones including 1 cox like variety

    Although M27 apple trees are much easier to look after in pots than M26, in this situation you really need to think about the size of tree you will need after you have moved, not the size you want them for the first few years. On that basis you might prefer M26, although probably not the minarette / cordon style.

      How will you move them? You may need heavy lifting equipment!

        The advice you'll get will depend on whether you want to grow unusual/older varieties, modern supermarket type varieties, or include relatively recent tasty commercial varieties grown in the UK up to the 1970s.

        If it's the latter then good all round performers for yield, taste and scab resistance include
        Discovery (early)
        Lord lambourne (mid season)
        Sunset (Cox like flavour)
        Annie Elizabeth (super cooker)
