  • cherry tree issue

I have a 2 yr old tree, which is grown in a 65cm pot. as it has grown, the foliage and branches are all top of the tree. as a consequence the trunk is only 2in dia and is bending under the weight. should I crop the tree back to allow the tree the get some side branches and get strength for next year. the tree has produced 2 cherries this year.

    thanks

I've just cut down a 12ft Cherry Tree as the birds were just a tad too quick for me. You could cut the leader branch to encourage new shoots & train it to the shape you wish. I think it would be better in the ground spoiled with a bit of wood ash if you have any.
