| I have a tree in my garden that has dark purple leaves and the fruit looks like a cherry with a stone inside but the flesh is more than a plum, the fruit doesn't grow in clusters like cherries but on they own. What is it and can I make jam with the fruit ?? |

| Beleive it or not there is such a thing as a cherry plum! Maybe google would supply images? It makes excellent jam - we have some growing in old hederows here.

| It's a lovely flavour - you just have to be patient picking out the stones - but they come free reasonably easily.

| I cut the cherries in half and simmered in 1/2 pint of water and then ladled out the stones and some of the skins and then when I skimmed the scum off the top removed any remaining stones I missed and some of the skins |

, we also had a couple of cherry trees and a gage, now that was a very big tree about 60' as I recall, the nearest fruit to the ground were about 20' up, we didnt dare to try and pick them!!
