  • Can you identify these apples please?

Three years ago we bought around 25 apple trees from a large supplier down south.
This year one of them has borne a fruit. It's supposed to be Brownlees Russet, but it obviously isn't! I can understand the lack of russetting, but surely a mostly green apple shouldn't be such a bright red?

Also, we have this apple, which was one of three unidentified saplings we got from freecycle last year. It's the size of a large cooker. It has a little green on one side.

Do either of them look familiar to anyone?

Hiya BM and Nicos Thanks xx

It has been rather a long time hasn't it? Been busily fighting with couch grass and planting more fruit (750 amelanchiers and 500 sea buckthorn this year ) - with no internet access, or even electricity, half the time. Must be mad...

Started moving the rhubarb from the lottie this month. We've managed about 30 crowns so far. Only another zillion to go.

                      Thanks KairdiffKid.

The trouble with all these identification sites is that they're fine if you have some sort of shortlist of possible names, but if you just have an anonymous apple you can find yourself having to trawl through all 600 entries.

Are there any Apple days near you, that you could take them too?
I've had some of my old trees identified that way.

Sadly they're all much too far south.
