  • Can you grow strawberries and pineberries together?

I have recently acquired 8 pineberry plants and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about this...
Should I plant them away from my strawberries? Is it possible they might "cross-breed" like different color flowers do? Sorry if it's a silly question but I'd like to enjoy this rare fruit and there wasn't a lot I could find about it!

some pineberry type strawberrys can be pure females and not hymaphrodite like most modern day strawberries so growing another variety nearby might/will help pollinate them ,
I find I get a better crop of pineberry type strawberries when I grow them between rows of other strawberries,
the cross pollination wont affect the actual berry that will always be a pineberry but the seeds on the pineberry being possibly pollinated by another strawberry when/if grown out will produce a hybrid plant, hope this helps

I'm growing Pineberry next to my other stawberrys. I've had a look and as others have said, their male parts aren't up to much, so it can only be a good thing to plant them near to some well hung Elsanta and Rhapsody! The only issue I can see is that Pineberrys are quite small plants and can get over shadowed by larger variaties.

pineberries are all female so to get a good crop they need to be pollinated by strawberries .

Give them a foot or so, they're only little things!
