Default can melon be grown from seed?

i've just eaten some honeydew melon (hehe) and saved a couple of seeds and was just wondering whether it would be possible to germinate them? i'm not expecting fruit, but does anyone know if it would make an interesting plant?
thanks!

If the melon was an F1 hybrid you will not get the same melons growing on it!
I think you would be better buying a packet of honeydew melon seeds and setting them in the spring!

If you are just thinking about sowing them now and using them as an interesting foliage plant I think they are a bit bland and boring and the overwintering light and temperatures would be a problem in this country?

My cantaloupe melons, planted what seems like years ago, are just flowering now ao I strongly suspect there will be no fruit ripening this year! I agree with Snadger that they are not the most interesting of plants and look rather like a cucumber but trailing all over the ground. I think courgettes or pumpkins are more worthwhile in this country!
