  • Is this a bonus?

I have a Tayberry which is two years old and has fruited well this year? One of the new stems it is throwing out is a thornless Blackberry. Is it worth trying to get it to root and then eliminating it from the Tayberry? It is growing very strongly and I an afraid that if I leave it it will take over.

    Any suggestions?

Bury the tip, it'll root and start to put up a new shoot. Then you can clip it off and you've got a new plant. Then just prune it back if you don't want to keep the original shoot.

Thanks, I will let a few berries ripen to see what they taste like.
