The 1st pic has both last years canes that were cut down to 3ft, these will fruit in Summer then removed. At the base are this years canes that will fruit in the Autumn then cut back to 3ft to fruit again next Summer.

So Autumn Raspberries fruit in Autumn and possibly Summer.

As opposed to summer raspberries which fruit in summer.
    And possibly autumn.

At the moment my Joan J are putting up new cases. Canes that come up 8n spring time are likely to flower in summer and be ready for harvest in autumn so are called Autumn Fruiting

Canes which pop up over summer will flower next spring and be ready to harvest in summer and are therefore Summer Fruiting.

some raspberries may produce canes in spring and summer and are Two Timers - do a happy dance and invest in a whipped cream mine.

Some Autumn Fruiting varieties can be coaxed into two timing by cutting the Autumn fruited canes back, instead of removing them.

    Is that any clearer?
